The team at Karsten Schubert London would like to congratulate Cathie Pilkington for being elected Keeper of the Royal Academy Schools. We were delighted to work with Pilkington for her recent site-specific installation in Room 2, The Covering. She became a Royal Academician in 2014, and Professor of Sculpture in 2016 (the first woman in the Academy's history to hold that office). Pilkington has been chosen by her fellow Royal Academicians to be the artist responsible for guiding the RA Schools.

Cathie Pilkington is an artist whose work engages passionately and critically with the canonical history of figurative sculpture. Crossing borders of traditional, modern and contemporary idioms, her work combines intensively modelled and painted sculptures within immersive installations comprising a diverse array of props, materials and studio furniture. Her site responsive installations are balanced ambivalently between chaos and precision and have been described as a kind of art historical fly-tipping.

You can see Cathie Pilkington’s series of prints Soft Forms on our London Original Print Fair online booth, running through to the end of May.
